From the Carolinas to Texas and Back Again Before Coming Home to  Blacksburg...

                                      Picture
I grew up in Charlotte, NC – I think my fascination with housing and other structures began there when the city’s growth spurt was just beginning to form.

After graduating from East Mecklenburg High School, I worked in the  residential and commercial construction industry for a decade – and loved it. I helped complete projects including single-family homes, Super Wal-Mart’s, hospital additions and several buildings on the campus of Appalachian State University. I became fascinated with the array of materials and techniques used to construct widely varying structures.

I moved to Dallas, Texas and began working for a company that specialized in the construction and maintenance of radio and television communication towers.  My fascination grew, along with my desire to understand the finances behind bankrolling such structures. I moved back to Charlotte and enrolled in Appalachian State University's business program.

I graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in finance. While at  Appalachian State I met my wife Barbara, who was also a student studying for a career in education. Her studies eventually led us to Blacksburg, Virginia with Barbara pursuing a Ph.D. We hit town in 1992 as the housing boom here was in its infancy.

While Barbara continued to study, I continued to work in construction, assisting with two fairly large projects. Barbara graduated in 1996 and in 1999 we were thrilled when our son Chase was born.

During our son's early year's my wife's career took on a seemingly unstoppable academic trajectory, I became a stay-at-home dad while Barbara carved out her career in academia. Once she earned tenure at Virginia Tech, I
studied and tested for the state real estate exam. I became a licensed real estate agent in 2004.

With decades of experience in widely varied construction projects, the real estate business came naturally to me. The blue-collar construction business, I think, has molded me into a low-pressure sales person compared to
many other agents in the business. My professional mantra is STRENGTH – STABILITY – EXPERIENCE. I strive to assist my clients in any way they require – without overtly pushing my services upon them.  I’m here when I’m needed. And I won’t bug you when I’m not.

Often my clients ask for one thing for weeks, months, even years before they make a buying or selling decision – INFORMATION.  As a licensed real estate agent, I’m often privy to information that the public
is not. I believe in sharing as much information as possible with my clients in support of helping them find the perfect home. Such access to information, combined with a low-pressure professional style has produced not
just satisfied clients, but return business. The establishment of long-term relationships with my clients is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
